The Maritime Financial Group and Central FC this week unveiled a partnership that will see the financial services giant join forces with the two-time reigning Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club and Digicel Pro League champions for upcoming community projects.

Central FC managing director Brent Sancho said his club will devise several community projects—supporting youth empowerment and community development in Trinidad and Tobago—with Maritime’s core values in mind.

Sancho said after meeting with Maritime chief executive officer Andrew Ferguson, it was clear that both parties were on the same page as it relates to Corporate Social Responsibility.

“(…) by harnessing the strengths of both organisations, we can deliver meaningful projects to the community,” said Sancho. “It's always exciting to begin a new page in the club's history. We have been extremely fortunate in working with some great sponsors since we were formed in 2012, and we look forward to a productive partnership with The Maritime Financial Group.”

Meanwhile Ferguson explained that at Maritime, Corporate Social Responsibility is more than just filling a quota or responding to a mandate.

He said, “It’s important to us that we identify opportunities where we can make a genuine difference to the communities we serve, especially when we are reaching out to young people. We believe that this partnership with Central’s programme will allow us to do exactly that – make a lasting impact by engaging young people through sport, a medium that fosters a sense of unity and togetherness that is essential to building strong communities for the future.”

The Maritime Financial Group logo will appear on Central’s game, travel and training kits this season.

Central, who successfully defended their domestic Digicel Charity Shield last month, will kick-off their Pro League defence on Tuesday against rivals W Connection from 8pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium for the first Couva Clasico of the 2016/17 season.
