Central Sharks held by Kansas City in Champions League

Central FC put in a creditable performance versus Sporting Kansas City in their second match of this season's Scotiabank Champions League Group Stage but could only come away with a point following a 2-2 draw at home in the Ato Boldon Stadium.

The Match saw the return of Trinidad and Tobago international Kenwyne Jones to a local club line-up following the finalization of a loan deal between the Central Sharks and Jones' new club Atlanta United which delayed the Soca Warriors captain's debut for the TT Pro League outfit. Jones did not disappoint, as his item put the Pro League champions ahead 2-1 in the 56th minute. After taking a neat feed in the right side of the box from Marcus "Lobo" Joseph, Jones beat goalkeeper Jon Kempin from six-yards out with a right-footer. This capped a five minute scoring spree after a goal less first half, with the MLS club getting on the board first due to a favorable deflection off Seth Sinovic which found the back of the net in the 51st minute. That lead lasted all of three minutes as "Lobo" scored a scorching equalizer to cap off some good work from the resilient Sean de Silva. Kevin Ellis spoiled the party in Central when he struck for the game’s last goal in the 70th minute but coach Dale Saunders and his team will have to thank goalkeeper Javon Sample for preserving that precious point with some timely saves.
