League clubs faceoff against Super League opponents on Tuesday
Four Pro League clubs will feature in Tuesday’s preliminary round of the 2011 Toyota Classic, and against Super League opponents in the tournament that allows the best of both leagues to collide.
In the earliest instance, St. Ann’s Rangers will take on Super League outfit Eagles from 5pm at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium followed by Caledonia AIA of Morvant/Laventille against Club Sando from 7pm.
Also kicking off at 7pm is Adam’s Construction San Juan Jabloteh against Real Maracas at the Hasely Crawford Stadium and DIRECTV North East Stars against West Side Stars at the Larry Gomes Stadium.
The preliminary round of this season’s Toyota Classic will also feature two Super League clashes with Joe Public against Tobago Phoenix from 5pm at the Hasely Crawford Stadium and WASA against Stokely Vale from 5pm at the Larry Gomes Stadium all seeking spots in the quarterfinal round which already has Digicel Pro League table toppers T&TEC FC and W Connection after receiving byes.
With defending Toyota Classic champs Ma Pau SC dissolved this season, the title remains unguarded.
Last season, Joe Public was the only Super League outfit to advance past Pro League opponents and into the quarterfinal round under Coach Rajesh Latchoo after edging its professional counterpart also coached by Latchoo.
This season’s quarter-final round will be played on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 November with double headers at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium and Larry Gomes Stadium respectively.
And the semi-final and Final are set for the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium on the 02 and 09 December respectively.
