Flow YPL round-up: Che Benny bags three in 7-0 win for Rangers U17s over D/Force

Trinidad and Tobago youth midfielder Che Benny struck twice in the first half before completing his hat-trick after the break to help St. Ann’s Rangers Under-17s to a convincing 7-0 win over Defence Force counterparts on Sunday—the opening day of the Flow Youth Pro League 2017.

Jesse Williams provided Rangers U17's opening item after just three minutes at Trinity College ground, Moka. And, by the half-time whistle Rangers were five-nil ahead after Benny found the back of the net in the 15th and 27th minutes, interrupted by teammate Emmanuel Cumberbatch's 18th-minute item, before Nkosi Salandy got on the scoresheet in the 37th minute.

Benny, who proved an exciting prospect for Rangers first team near the end of the just concluded top flight Pro League, completed his hat-trick nine minutes after the break before Kesean St Rose completed the 7-0 rout on 90 minutes.

It was sweet revenge for Rangers who had earlier--at the same venue--surrendered full points by default in the Under-13 division and lost 2-1 against their Defence Force counterparts in the Under-15 age-group.

Down at the Mahaica Oval, hosts Point Fortin Civic celebrated an earlier 7-0 win over Morvant Caledonia United in the Under-15 division.

Kistoff Bartholomew and Ezekiel Kesar both netted twice for Civic who also had a goal each from Moredecai Brown, Gesiah Bishop and Thaj Neptune against Morvant Caledonia, who, earlier on the day, lost by default in the U-13s division against the southerners.

However the visitors had the last say, defeating Civic 2-1 in the U17s. Jaleni Augustus and Dwight Yorke scored late in the first half to cushion Morvant Caledonia against Civic who grabbed a consolation item near the end through Nkosi Charles.

Elsewhere San Juan Jabloteh, two-time reigning champions of all divisions in the last two seasons, W Connection and Police FC enjoyed clean sweeps in all divisions on Sunday.

Jabloteh defeated Club Sando 3-1, 2-0 and 3-0 in the U13, U15 and U17 divisions respectively at the San Juan North Secondary ground, while Connection, 6-1 winners over Central in the U13s, went on to defeat their Couva rivals 2-0 in the U15s before winning by default in the U17 division.

Police, meanwhile, racked up full points in all three divisions without kicking a ball as North East Stars lost by default.

Police returns against Defence Force on Sunday 12 March for Round One Match Day Two in all three divisions at Trinity East ground. Also, Central FC will host Morvant Caledonia United at St. Augustine Secondary school ground, while Club Sando face St. Ann’s Rangers at Mannie Ramjohn Stadium. Jabloteh completes Flow Youth title sweep

...U-16s crown blank Defence Force for crown

Play San Juan Jabloteh completed the sweep of the 2016 Flow Youth Pro League competition when its Under-16 Division squad blanked Defence Force 3-0 at Trinity East College Ground, Trincity on Sunday.

Prior to kick-off, Jabloteh sat at the top of the standings 44 points from 16 matches, six more than Morvant Caledonia United with two matches left for each club, and needing only a point.
Jabloteh broke the deadlock in the evenly matched contest through Kyle Thomas in the 33rd minute to put one hand on the trophy and five minutes after the restart, Jodel Brown doubled the advantage before John Emmanuel seal all three points, with his team's third item in the 73rd minute.

The win lifted Jabloteh to 47 points from 17 matches, nine clear of Morvant Caledonia which went under to W Connection 1-0 at Gilbert Park, Couva, courtesy a 52nd Mark Ramdeen effort for fourth spot with 30 points.

Also in the Under-16 Division, North East Stars solidified its hold on third spot with 32 after clobbering St Ann's Rangers 5-2 at Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar led by a double from Keyon Boney, in the 40th and 67th while Club Sando won 2-0 over Police FC, and Pt Fortin Civic was awarded a 3-0 default win over Central FC, after the latter was unable to field a team.

The San Juan-based club had already won the Under-18/Reserve and Under-14 Divisional titles over the previous two weeks. The final round of matches in each division will take place this weekend.

Morvant/Caledonia United process of reuniting with their community continued this weekend during their Round Two Match Day Seven encounter against San Juan Jabloteh and Flow was a prepared and willing partner.

Flow continues to show their sponsorship support of the Youth Pro League (YPL) when they visited the Morvant area with their cameras to capture what some may say was the “El Classico” of the Youth Pro League as Morvant/Caledonia United took on San Juan Jabloteh. Jabloteh on the verge of a three division sweep in the Flow YPL, and Morvant/Caledonia United seeking to put some spokes in their wheels in the U14 and U16 Divisions having already won the U18/Reserve Division, made for what would be an exciting game day. Some of Jabloteh old boys were on hand to see their Club clinch all Divisions in the Flow YPL with two more matches in hand.

Flow was out with their camera man and interviewer along with the snow cone man giving away free snow cones, a testament to its great taste were the number of young people who flocked him with the intent of getting one in hand quickly, and the hot sun was also a good reason to swamp the snow cone man as well.

Parents were out in their numbers supporting their children along with members of the community who came out to see the young people play. What was obvious was the fact that the Flow YPL brought life back to the community. On speaking with one person who lives a stone’s throw away from the Morvant Recreation Ground, she said, “I am glad to see the Pro League in Morvant. There is such a stigma here and while we cannot deny that there is crime all around, this part of Morvant is safe and we hope to keep it so.” She also said “I would like the Pro League to come in and help with the play park that is run down, do something for the community. Football related courses for the young men and young women, let them know that there are other things to get involved in that could help to mould them into better citizens. I am more than glad to see the Pro League here, more than glad.”

Flow Youth Pro League also brought out the entrepreneurs in the community, as Ms. Brown came out with her popcorn machine placed it in her garage and the sales began. There was also free wifi available in the stands which the members in the community said that they are more than happy to have courtesy the San Juan/ Laventille Regional Corporation

One thing was certain, that although Morvant/Caledonia United suffered defeat against San Juan Jabloteh, they won their biggest victory when they were able to actually return home where they belong.

National youth team striker and Brent Sam scored the lone goal as San Juan Jabloteh eked out a 1-0 top-of-the-table win over Central FC to claim the Under-18/Reserve Division crown in the 2016 Flow Youth Pro League at San Juan North Secondary Ground, Bourg Mulatresse on Saturday.

Going into the contest, Jabloteh held a seven point lead over Central FC with four matches left for each club, and the latter needed a win to stay alive in the title race.

However, the lanky Sam, the brother of former England-based national striker Hector Sam got the decisive item for Jabloteh in the 62nd minute to grab all three points and push its tally to an unassailable 38 from 15 matches, ten more than Central FC with only three matches left for each team.

In other Under-18/Reserve Division results, Defence Force stayed third with 24 points after a 2-0 defeat of W Connection with a goal each from Aaron Noel in the tenth minute and Ahkil Noel in the 69th while St Ann's Rangers and Pt Fortin Civic battled to a 2-2 draw, Morvant Caledonia United and Police FC also drew 1-1 and Club Sando won by default from host North East Stars due to an unprepared playing surface.

In the Under-16 age-group, Jabloteh also remained on course to lift the title via an 8-1 humiliation of Central FC inspired by hat tricks from Tyrese Bailey (11th, 21st, 65th) and Kesan St Rose (24th, 28th, 37th) ahead of its meeting with second placed Morvant Caledonia on Sunday.

Jodel Brown added a first-half brace in the 31st and 34th minutes for Jabloteh while Tyrique Muhammed converted a 67th consolation penalty for Central FC.

With three matches left, Jabloteh now has 41 points, just three ahead of Morvant Caledonia United,

5-2 victors over Police FC at Morvant Recreation Ground, Park Street, Morvant.

Leading the way for Morvant Caledonia was Akeem Mason with a hat trick, in the 30th, 54th and 76th after Trevis Byron had banged in a double, in the 19th and 24th.

Police FC which trailed 3-1 at the half-time interval got it replies through Marcus Pivitt in the 35th and an own goal from Jalani Augustus in the 70th.

And in the Under-14 Division, Jabloteh rebounded from its 1-0 loss to Club Sando, its second of the campaign with a comfortable 3-0 blanking of Central FC.

Dorian Sampson did the early damage for Jabloteh with goals in the fourth and 29th minutes while David Daniel added an insurance item in the 65th to lift their club to 39 points, eight ahead of Morvant Caledonia United and within sight of its divisional crown.

Morvant Caledonia also won 3-0 over Police FC thanks to a pair of goals from Nickell Alexander, in the 20th and 51st and Stefan Auguste in the 60th on Saturday, but then was held to a 1-1 draw by W Connection in its match on hand on Monday at the same Park Street venue, and must now beat the table leaders on Sunday to stay in the title race.
