Point Fortin occupy second after goalless draw with Central

Point Fortin Civic jumped two spots up the ladder and now occupies second position on the 2013/2014 Digicel Pro League standings after playing to a goalless draw against Central FC on Saturday.

Central visited the Mahaica Oval equipped with four debuting starters and had definitely hoped for maximum three points against a side that convincingly won their last two outings.

But the Terry Fenwick coached—Central featuring new signings Trinidad and Tobago international striker Willis Plaza, ex-World Youth Cup captain Leston Paul, former Defence Force utility player Samuel Delice and ex-national senior team defender Yohance Marshall alongside recent acquisition and “Soca Warriors” playmaker, Ataullah Guerra only managed a point.

Point Fortin meanwhile, coming off Tuesday’s 3-0 win over bottom of the table St. Ann’s Rangers at the Marvin Lee Stadium, and last weekend’s 5-0 win over Police FC at the Mahaica Oval, failed to pick up a third win in a row.

Point Fortin 22 year-old attacker Marcus Joseph, scorer of back to back hat-tricks in his team’s last two outings, dragged a second half penalty wide.

Central too would bite themselves late in the match when substitute Rundell Winchester struck the crossbar.

Central remained in sixth positioned with 14 points, just as fifth positioned Caledonia AIA.

Meanwhile Point Fortin joined third positioned North East Stars and fourth positioned Police with 17 points, all 15 points away from runaway leaders DIRECTV W Connection (32 points).
