Adams gets one-year deal with Hungarian champions, Ferencvarosi

Adams gets one-year deal with Hungarian champions, FerencvarosiFormer T&TEC FC and Central FC defender Akeem Adams has signed a one-year deal with Hungarian club Ferencvarosi.

The deal, which came about following a one week trial at the Hungarian club,  is said to be a one-year with the option for an extension.

Ferencvarosi club is the most successful Hungarian club having  captured the league title 28 times and the Cup 20 times and also won the Europa league in 1965.

"It’s a most satisfying feeling to have secured my first overseas professional contract," Adams told TTFA Media.

"I spent a week here and the coaches were impressed. I worked really hard and now I know the real deal begins. My previous club was Central FC but I was released earlier this year, so it was on my mind for sometime and I know I needed to start back playing at a decent level because I haven’t been on a national team for some time," said Adams who had 9 senior international caps for Trinidad and Tobago.

"Now that I’ve signed with Ferencvarosi I know I need to settle in and continue to improve my game. I want to return to the national team at some point in the future.

"I need to thank my agent Humphry Nijman and Dion Sosa for their efforts in getting me this deal and of course my past coaches, my loved ones and Cheryl Abrams who was the (T&T U20) team manager in 2009 for her support as well as (coaches) Reynold Carrington and Zoran Vranes for their support.

"Most things in Europe are different to home so I have to adapt but I’ve had a fair amount of travels with the national youth teams also so Europe is not a strange place to me and I’ve trained and played in these conditions before. I’m just looking to settle in and help the club to some success this season," concluded Adams.
